Community Design – Olney, MD

Intentionally designed to promote safety and independence.

At our Memory Care community, our belief is that by designing our communities to treat the manifestations of dementia, we leave our associates free to care for the people who have dementia. With intentional community design, we address wayfinding challenges, independence and safety for our residents.

Welcome to the Neighborhood

All our communities are based on a model that features multiple smaller neighborhoods within a larger community—this helps manage overstimulation. The small neighborhoods all connect to a central core area, known as the Town Center, with amenities including a studio for community gatherings, a community center for life enrichment, a health center and a beauty salon/barbershop. The entire community is secure and safe for exploring.

  • Building design features visual cues for increased independence and navigation.
  • Meals are served family-style tableside, allowing residents to use their senses of sight and smell to truly experience their options and make personal choices based on their individual preferences.
  • Fully set tables provide a restaurant-style environment for dining.
  • Residents are able to safely stroll between households and outdoor spaces.

Secure and Safe

We understand that the safety of your loved one is paramount in your choice of Memory Care. Our communities are designed to provide a secure environment with 24-hour care and supervision. The open neighborhood environment means it’s safer for moving throughout the community. Individual residences are designed to mimic the comforts of home, with additional touches that provide safety and reduce confusion.
